Meidi Tri’s Parents

Learning from experience, Meidi’s parents are now not giving up so easily.

The parents of Meidi Tri, who is diagnosed with a form of muscle disorder, namely Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), always seemed enthusiastic about taking their child to get physiotherapy and painting skills lesson at LombokCare every Tuesday afternoon. There are many sides to their story that make that positive spirit appear, one of which is the bitter experience when their eldest child passed away at the age of 15 due to the same condition as Meidi. At that time Meidi’s father, Wahyudi, and mother, Asfiani, did not have much knowledge about the condition of Meidi’s big brother at that time. Before he passed away, his brother had told him that Meidi seemed to have the same symptoms as him and told his parents to care for and treat Meidi as much as possible so that he would not become like him.

After taking Meidi to the doctor for examination, Meidi was advised to routinely follow therapy to prevent accelerated decline in his condition. At first Wahyudi was hesitant to take his son for therapy, the trauma of his eldest son’s condition was still be too imprinted on his mind and besides that he had to accept the harsh reality that the youngest Meidi also experienced the same thing. However, Asfiani insisted to bring Meidi to LombokCare and even said she was ready to bring Meidi herself even though she had to carry him. Slowly Meidi’s father melted and finally in early 2020 he enrolled Meidi to LombokCare for therapy.

It has been almost 2 years since Meidi has been participating in therapy services and parents are increasingly enthusiastic about improving the quality of life of their child. They don’t want to just give up like what has happened before. They also remain strong in accompanying Meidi to school every day to learn. Thanks to the education received during therapy at LombokCare, parents can carry out simple exercises at home and are also able to provide information about therapy and lead neighbors who have children with developmental delays to register at LombokCare.

Asfiani insisted to bring Meidi to LombokCare and even said she was ready to bring Meidi herself even though she had to carry him.

Meidi meeting Mrs. Tri Rismaharini, The Minister of Social Affairs of The Republic of Indonesia

The spirit of Meidi and his parents even was slowly being rewarded with good things. In October 2021, Meidi became one of the children with a disability to interact directly with the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Mrs. Tri Rismaharini. Of course, this moment is an injection to keep on thriving on positive spirit and to not give up on the future.
